Sharmin Afroz

Sharmin Afroz is a graduate student in Religious Studies at University of Colorado Boulder. Since childhood, she has been fascinated by the various religions, including their traditions, customs, festivals, and beliefs, which inspired her to pursue a Bachelor's degree in the Department of World Religions and Culture at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. She is also a recipient of the Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) Graduate Student Fellowship.  Her primary area of interest in research is women in Hinduism. She aims to focus more on the position and role of women in Hinduism, their rights according to Hindu texts, and the role Hindu Goddesses play in formulating social expectations for Hindu women.
